Bonsai
Bonsai is the art of growing plants in a small pot. It is
considered an art form. There are certain differences between Bonsai and normal
pot planting. It is carefully shaped to remain small. It does not need large
pot and also much of soil. A Bonsai container has holes in the bottom which are
covered with small nets so that the soil does not flow out of the water. The
art of Bonsai originated perhaps more than 1000 years ago in China. Early Japanese
aristocrats also liked it very much and contributed greatly to its
development. It is a miniature of a real
tree. The plant of a Bonsai has to be taken out from its original container and
one third of its root is cut. Then we have to tie the bottom of the pot with
the help of wires. Soil is spread over it to cover the container though an inch
of the root is allowed to stay above the soil to enhance beauty. Besides, the
soft branches of the tree are coiled with wires so that they will grow according
to the wish of planters. In our country, thought the concept is new, we see
many beautiful Bonsai in tree fairs. Now-a-days many people of our country try
to grow Bonsai. Some of us buy from fair though the price is very high. I have
started to grow a Bonsai and I hope I will be successful. Indeed, it is a great
pastime for me.
