LITERATURE: 50 MARKS

Division of Marks

Prose: 20 Marks

Verse: 20 Marks

Rapid Reader: 10 Marks

LANGUAGE: 30 MARKS

PROJECT: 20 MARKS

Question Pattern

1. MCQ (Multiple Choice Type Question)   15x1=15
2. SAQ (Short Answer Type Question)       10x1=10
3. Descriptive / Analytical Type Question     5x5=25

Notes:

1. MCQ type is concept-based / inference type question.
2. SAQ type is information or knowledge based type question.
3. MCQ and SAQ question will have four options and students have to tick the correct one.
4. MCQ and SAQ questions will be of 1 mark each.
5. Descriptive/Analytical type questions will be of 5 marks each to be answered within 300 words.
6. There will be 2 Descriptive/Analytical type questions of 5 marks each from the Rapid Reader.

LANGUAGE: 30 MARKS

a) Textual Grammar: 10 Marks

Questions will be of 1 mark or 2 marks each on the following grammatical items from the prescribed pieces: Tenses, Voices, Group Verbs, Preposition, Relative Clause, Participle and Gerund.

b) Writing: 10 Marks

Paragraph Writing / Story Writing (350 – 400 words)

c) ESP: 10 Marks

Newspaper Advertisement / Commercial Leaflet (10 to 50 words)

PROJECT: 20 MARKS

Project should be written on any one of the following topics in 2000 – 2500 words:

1. Dramatizing a story
2. Extension of a story
3. Writing an autobiography
