Arsenic pollution has become a great problem in our country. Thousands of people are suffering from this problem. Arsenic is a poisonous chemical element. It is white in colour. It causes arsenicosis in human body. Arsenicosis is a disease caused by drinking tube well water containing arsenic. Arsenic is not found in the surface water. It is found in the water of some tube well. The people drinking uncontaminated water are not likely to catch arsenicosis from affected people. Consciousness can help us to get rid of this disease. The majority of the tube wells in Bangladesh are free from arsenic. But they should be tested. The best way to get rid of this disease is to drink water from a source that contains no arsenic. The rainwater can be collected for this purpose because it is free from arsenic. The government should come forward to solve this problem. They should make people conscious of arsenicosis. At the same time, they should make an arrangement for the supply of pure drinking water.
